Chen Chi is an old rank seven criminal immortal sealed in Hei Fan grotto-heaven, the highest cultivation among the immortals trapped there when Fang Yuan arrives as Hei Cheng.
Feng Jun, Zheng Tuo, and Zhou Min argue over whether to move against the heavenly spirit. Zhou Min urges them to convince Old Immortal Chen Chi to the west, who has three Gu Immortals under him. Feng Jun calls Chen Chi useless and near death, yet Zhou Min answers that even if they look down on him, he has the highest cultivation level and must at least stay out of their way. When the succession bell rings past Feng Jun’s earlier mark, Feng Jun cannot believe even Old Immortal Chen Chi was surpassed. ch. 1119

Criminal immortal greeting
He leads four Gu Immortals to Fang Yuan, who is disguised as Hei Cheng, and greets him as criminal immortal Chen Chi paying respects to a superior immortal from the main tribe. He sighs in admiration and says the criminal immortals of Hei tribe have waited long for such an arrival. Another voice explains their ancestors failed as guards when Hei Feng Yue and attitude Gu were lost, so Hei Fan locked that lineage inside the grotto-heaven. Chen Chi says that besides the seven present there are only two others, and he guides Fang Yuan when the heavenly spirit leads them toward Immortal Succession Mountain. Among those present, only he and Zheng Tuo match Fang Yuan’s rank seven cultivation on their side. ch. 1120
