Bai Bing Yi is a rank two Bai clan Gu Master on Qing Mao Mountain, ranked just under Bai Ning Bing among that clan's young masters.
He appears at the three-clan alliance gathering on Qing Mao Mountain, when Xiong Jiang of the Xiong clan challenges him in front of the Bai camp. His standing sits with peers such as Chi Shan and Xiong Li, and among Bai clan young Gu Masters he is only inferior to Bai Ning Bing. His body is small and his face pale, like a patient just recovered from serious illness, yet no one dares to underestimate him. ch. 125

Water Drill Gu spar
Xiong Jiang frames the bout as attack versus defense and offers Bai Bing Yi three attacking chances. Bai Bing Yi answers as a rank two Gu Master who specialises in attack, warning that Xiong Jiang cannot block his Water Drill Gu. He forms a light-blue spiral drill on his fist; rank two Water Drill Gu can drill through rock and steel. The first blow tears Xiong Jiang’s zombie-armoured arms to the bone, then Shadow Bond Gu returns a share of that damage and Bai Bing Yi vomits blood. Xiong Jiang names him a pure attacker with poor health, so even a tenth of the returned injury is deadly to him. Bai Bing Yi admits defeat on the spot, praises the tactics, and accepts Xiong Jiang’s request for care during the coming wolf tide. ch. 125
Wolf-tide merit board
Later talk of the Xiong Li group still counts the win over Bai Bing Yi before that group’s loss to Gu Yue Qing Shu. ch. 126 The battle merit board stretch notes that sparring results hide real combat strength: Bai Bing Yi has attacking methods beyond Water Drill Gu, while Shadow Bond Gu’s range is only ten meters. Early in the wolf tide his group’s mark sits at first place among the three clans, then Swimword Gu writing shows Qing Shu’s group climb past him to first and push Bai Bing Yi’s group to second. ch. 127
