Yan Tian Ji gives the order to kill, and his Gu Masters unleash a dazzling barrage: water, starfire, white bone, firebird, lighting the scene like fireworks. Water Demon does not flee it. He smiles, and his eyes flash with the rank three sight blow Gu, a soul attack that bypasses defenses and stuns the elder standing nearest him, though the damage alone is slight. He then triggers a rank four location swap Gu, fed by yellow gold primeval essence, and trades places with that same stunned elder; the barrage already in flight cannot be recalled, and it kills the elder where Water Demon had stood. ch. 471
Water Demon laughs, mocking Yan tribe as fools who have struck down their own. Location swap Gu needs contact to work, and Water Demon pairs it with the sight blow Gu’s gaze, which counts as contact the moment it lands, letting him swap free of any crowd that surrounds him: this is how he has dared hold the whole of Yan tribe’s leadership at bay, kidnap Yan Cui Er and extort her family. Furious at the elder’s death, the Yan tribe Gu Masters shout threats but hold their attacks back, unnerved by a trick they never expected. ch. 471
Yan Tian Ji rallies them: however costly the location swap Gu is to cast, it cannot be cast forever, and Water Demon is now ringed by the wolves of the returned righteous hero Wolf King Chang Shan Yin, with nowhere left to run. Hao Ji Liu’s attention fixes on Fang Yuan at that name, surprised the man he has heard of since childhood is still alive. He tries drawing Fang Yuan out with questions, still guarding against Yan tribe. ch. 471
Fang Yuan sits his wolf a little more than three hundred steps off, silent and plainly watching, which happens to be the exact limit past which the sight blow Gu loses all force. Hao Ji Liu reads the distance as deliberate, a trap either way: closing it lets him strike, but feels baited into doing so. He reasons that if this truly is Chang Shan Yin, an enslavement path Gu Master’s soul is too strong to risk a sight based attack against, since such attacks pit soul against soul. He accuses Yan tribe of bringing an impostor to impersonate the Wolf King, and Yan Tian Ji answers coldly that Water Demon will feel the Wolf King’s true power soon enough, while the other elders press Fang Yuan to strike and end the threat. ch. 471
Fang Yuan checks that his wolves have finished encircling the battlefield exactly as planned, and judges the moment ripe. His smile turns cold and callous, killing intent surging in his eyes, and he gives the signal. Ten thousand wolves charge howling into the Yan tribe Gu Masters, not Water Demon. Yan Tian Ji and his elders, shocked, shout at Fang Yuan to stop, reminding him both their tribes answer to Liu Wen Wu. Fang Yuan answers hatefully, his face twisting into a maniacal expression, that this is exactly why he is dealing with them now. He tells them to go in peace, promising the Chang tribesmen will soon follow to keep them company, and declares he swore long ago to settle an old score one person at a time. ch. 471
Dodging the wolves, Hao Ji Liu suddenly recalls something. Long ago, when Chang Shan Yin fought Ha Tu Gu and a band of bandits entirely alone, Chang tribe sent no one to help him, and he guesses now there were hidden reasons behind it. He pleads that he does not wish to be Fang Yuan’s enemy, that the enemy of an enemy should be a friend. Fang Yuan looks at him coldly, calls him a flea jumping about, and tells him to die alongside the rest. ch. 471
