Struggle Between Feng and Zhao

Quiet rain falls on Feng Jin Huang as she walks in Quiet Rain Valley, within Spirit Affinity House’s blessed land headquarters at Lake Heart Mountain. The valley produces quiet rain, a rank six immortal material. As it falls, quiet rain absorbs all sound and leaves the surroundings silent. Fairy Bai Qing, mother of Feng Jin Huang and wife of Feng Jiu Ge, who betrayed Heavenly Court and vanished, asked to be transferred there to collect quiet rain and said she would not leave. Rumors of zither and flute music in the valley worry Feng Jin Huang into visiting. She finds her mother in a bamboo pavilion with a zither Gu and a flute Gu floating around her. ch. 1971

Fairy Bai Qing says Feng Jiu Ge composed the demonic immortal unification song when they fell in love, and played it during the fate war. She tells her daughter the list of names has been announced. Feng Jin Huang knows Spirit Affinity House put forward Sun Yao this time and Heavenly Court quickly approved, after it had not replied when the sect recommended her. Fairy Bai Qing says Li Jun Ying and Xu Hao got in the way and promoted Sun Yao instead. Feng Jin Huang smiles and says she prepared herself when her father turned against Heavenly Court, and her dream path Immortal Gu was not taken. Fairy Bai Qing replies that Feng Jiu Ge’s strength, shown by his destiny song, means Heavenly Court and Spirit Affinity House will not dare touch her daughter. ch. 1971

Feng Jin Huang says she will not forgive her father for abandoning his wife and daughter without warning and will one day settle the score. Fairy Bai Qing answers that her daughter misjudges him. Feng Jiu Ge played the song in the fate war to tell his wife that righteous immortals and demons are the same, and that leaving the righteous path would not end their family. Fairy Bai Qing believes he will take her away if she shows the slightest inclination to leave Spirit Affinity House, and that he left mother and daughter free to choose their sides. Feng Jin Huang still calls him cold and heartless for helping Fang Yuan rather than her master, who was stubborn but kind, and leaves. ch. 1971

Outside the valley, Feng Jin Huang meets Qin Juan and Sun Yao, who have always followed behind her. Sun Yao anxiously says she did not want to snatch the opportunity, but Feng Jin Huang calls the nomination quota a small matter and tells her to seize it. Qin Juan fainted while fusing with the dao marks and lost the nomination, because she was injured and could not endure the ordeal. Feng Jin Huang regrets the loss, since the heaven path dao marks are the countless pieces into which Fang Yuan refined the destroyed fate Gu, dispersed to the people in the world. Absorbing more marks benefits cultivation and the immortal aperture, but having none is only a missed opportunity. She offers the two guidance, and the three leave together. Fairy Bai Qing, who watched through an investigative method, finds her daughter grown up but will not avoid conflict if anyone in the sect goes overboard. ch. 1971

On Affection Peak, Li Jun Ying and Xu Hao visit Zhao Lian Yun, a Gu Immortal recently assigned as the Affection Peak Lord. Besides her own efforts, she owes her progress to their support and guidance. They ask her to use her status as the current generation fairy against Feng Jin Huang and Fairy Bai Qing. Xu Hao says that since Feng Jiu Ge betrayed Heavenly Court and caused Fate to be destroyed, this is the best opportunity. Xu Hao hates Feng Jiu Ge, who in their power struggle pushed Xu Hao and Li Jun Ying to the fringe of Spirit Affinity House. ch. 1971

Zhao Lian Yun hesitates and asks why they would implicate Feng Jiu Ge’s family. Li Jun Ying tells her that Feng Jin Huang has already been removed from the sect’s nominee list. Zhao Lian Yun, who admires Feng Jin Huang, answers that people should let others off. When Zhao Lian Yun notes that Heavenly Court has not removed Feng Jin Huang’s status, Li Jun Ying replies that its uncertainty is exactly why they must deliver the fatal blow. She agrees in the end, since she owes them a big favor and, as half an otherworldly demon, would be a loner without them. The two immortals promise a huge reward and leave. ch. 1971

Fate’s destruction is good news for Zhao Lian Yun, since it will make Ma Hong Yun’s revival easier, though his soul is still in Fang Yuan’s hands. She must raise her strength to save her beloved. She inspects her immortal aperture, Lian Yun blessed land, which covers five thousand seven hundred square kilometres of mostly grassland and plains at a time rate of one to thirteen. After the heaven path dao marks were absorbed, trenches opened, huge rivers formed and floods left fertile mud and a dense river network. She concludes that the marks bring the aperture closer to a truly balanced environment, with temporary losses but potential rising many times over. Her divine concealment from Thieving Heaven’s true inheritance spares her tribulations, which is both beneficial and detrimental, and her aperture development had always been a problem that the marks now greatly reduce. She laments that she obtained only six and a half marks, all segmented and none complete, and knows the gap between her and Fang Yuan has greatly increased again. ch. 1971
