Immortal Venerable Regrets, But I Do Not!
Hong Ting repeats that he regrets it, and Duke Long rebukes his proudest disciple, asking whether such words do justice to everyone who sacrificed for him. Hong Ting says he would rather not hold the Immortal Venerable position if it demands ever more sacrifice. Duke Long answers that the position is fate’s arrangement and his life’s mission, and that the righteous path costs sacrifice. Without that mentality, he says, Hong Ting lacks the qualifications to enter Heavenly Court. ch. 1678
Hong Ting declares that he wants to revive his parents, Liu Shu Xian and everyone else who sacrificed for him. Duke Long calls the idea heretical. Reviving the dead, he warns, would send the world into chaos. Hong Ting asks why fate must be accepted, and whether the world would truly fall into chaos without it. The other Heavenly Court Gu Immortals step back, call his thought too dangerous, and recoil that he would destroy Fate Gu, Heavenly Court’s supreme treasure. ch. 1678
Later a lonely figure appears over the River of Time, wearing Hong Ting’s old face with a completely changed expression. As Red Lotus Demon Venerable, he decides it is time to leave his inheritance. He raises the first and most important stone lotus island around rank eight regret Gu, for the otherworldly demon with the greatest hope of destroying Fate. There he leaves time path immortal materials, immortal killer moves, one killer move of unparalleled effect, and part of his true meaning holding his memories of a certain period. ch. 1678
Long after, Paradise Earth, now an Immortal Venerable, finds the island after immense effort, and Red Lotus’ true meaning welcomes him. Asked his purpose, Paradise Earth replies that it already knows, and the true meaning agrees that Fate is only damaged, not completely destroyed, so everything remains traceable from the River of Time. The true meaning will lend regret Gu. Stealing the inheritor is left to Paradise Earth’s ability. Paradise Earth says the otherworldly demon is not emotionless and may still seek redemption, so he will try. The true meaning admits its main body was not entirely confident of defending against Heavenly Court, but with Paradise Earth acting, that worry is gone. ch. 1678
Paradise Earth catches regret Gu, which draws regret out of any Gu Immortal nearby and spares only someone without even a little regret. Without his rank nine cultivation he might not suppress it. He stores it in his immortal aperture and says he will definitely send the demon. ch. 1678
Fang Yuan wakes from this memory left by Red Lotus Demon Venerable and understands the cause and result of everything. Red Lotus Demon Venerable and Paradise Earth have both perished, yet their arrangements still hold. Red Lotus’ true meaning welcomes Fang Yuan, trusts him to try his best to destroy fate Gu, and offers the true inheritance that has waited over a million years. It warns that regret Gu cannot be touched directly. Otherwise even refining it would drown him in endless regret. Fang Yuan declines the prepared method, grabs regret Gu and refines it at once, leaving the true meaning stunned. ch. 1678
