Negotiation Fails
Fang Yuan, calling himself Suan Bu Jin, coldly tells Fang Hua Sheng that a wisdom path Gu Immortal is not so easily deceived. He asks why Fang clan’s Gu Immortals fell into Old Ghost Bai Jun’s hands and why two rank seven houses arrived so timely. Fallen Flower Hall turns silent. Fang Hua Sheng admits that Fang clan has plotted for generations to obtain the rank eight Immortal Gu House, and asks for Fang Yuan’s help. He hands over an information path mortal Gu holding another alliance agreement, offering a rank seven Immortal Gu chosen from the treasury and many rank six and seven immortal materials for helping take Divine Bean Palace. Confidentiality is essential: if Fang Yuan declines, Fang clan will not stop him, but he must cultivate in seclusion for a time under another confidentiality agreement. ch. 1520
Fang Yuan recalls that Genesis Lotus Immortal Venerable created Divine Bean Palace, and that information on it is very rare, even in Shadow Sect’s true inheritance. Fang clan is very polite, wanting to recruit a rare wisdom path Gu Immortal, and wary of provoking him with Divine Bean Palace at stake. Fang Yuan could fight his way out of Fallen Flower Hall, but ruining the relationship for a palace not yet obtained would be too big a loss. He also needs a vast number of soul cores in green ghost desert. Judging it too early to oppose Fang clan, he plays along for now, and alliance agreements are not unresolvable. If he cannot resolve one, he can use self cleansing, or borrow Immortal Gu No and Care in Northern Plains to create do not care. ch. 1520
Fang Yuan calls the offer peanuts, destroys the information path mortal Gu and says he can be bought, but the amount is too little. Fang Yuan says he will take part, since Fang clan would not feel assured if he stayed out. Fang Hua Sheng agrees to negotiate, provided compensation matches contribution. Fang Yuan claims compensation for keeping confidentiality, for saving Fang Yun and Fang Leng, for defending Fallen Flower Hall, and for his mood ruined by a Fang clan member’s slander. He keeps his demands complex and edits earlier terms after each change, until Fang Hua Sheng is confused and the talks exceed his bottom line. ch. 1520
Fang Hua Sheng says he cannot accept, tells Fang Yuan to find him in Chicken Dog Coop, and leaves. The negotiation fails. Fang Yuan reads the exit as a tactic and expects the clan strategist, second supreme elder Fang Di Chang, a rank seven wisdom path great grandmaster, to come. Win or lose, he wants a favorable agreement, as proof of sincerity and backup compensation if the palace eludes him. Inquiry Dock appears, and Fang Hua Sheng boards it, where Fang Di Chang says Divine Bean Palace outran them but carries a tracking method. The clan must repair Fallen Flower Hall and combine all three houses into peach blossom maze to trap the palace. ch. 1520
Fang Hua Sheng reports that Suan Bu Jin is tough to handle and the negotiation failed, but that staying in the isolated hall dispels suspicion and seeking an agreement shows sincerity. Fang Di Chang suspects fearlessness instead and, with Fang An Lei injured, finds him quite suspicious, yet decides to tolerate him and meet him. Inquiry Dock lands, and in Fallen Flower Hall the two meet for the first time. Fang Di Chang judges Fang Yuan arrogant, strong and not to be underestimated. Fang Yuan sees a plain face and ordinary appearance, and is internally shocked that Fang Di Chang’s immortal aura is utterly concealed, as worthy of a wisdom path great grandmaster. ch. 1520
