Chapter 1233

A mudslide sends rock and soil pouring down a Central Continent mountain. The village below dissolves into panic. A rank seven Gu Immortal watches unseen from the sky, frowning at the strange flow since no rain preceded it, though he secretly manages the region’s weather for good harvests. Rock bursts apart to reveal the cause, a huge brass shelled swamp crab, a desolate beast whose eyes vanished through evolution, leaving it with no weaknesses. Its first pair of pincers can break mountain rock or cut a flood dragon in half, and it is called the king of the swamp among desolate beasts. Recognizing its earth and water dao marks as valuable immortal material for his own water path, he decides to attack. He stores away the water still flooding the place with a movement of all ten fingers. Mu Ling Lan flies up into the clouds to meet the speaker. The newcomer is Shi Ge, who confirms he too has Heavenly Court orders to join the Northern Plains battle, and the two agree to travel together. Though both are rank seven, Shi Ge outranks Mu Ling Lan in seniority, having passed two grand tribulations against Mu Ling Lan’s none, so he teaches him along the way. Shi Ge stops to collect his son Zheng Yi, newly ascended to Gu Immortal and still inexperienced, whom he means to bring along to train. ^{ch. 1233}

In a nearby city, young Shi Zheng Yi causes a commotion in a restaurant. He shoots through a window to greet his father and Mu Ling Lan politely. The three travel on and reach a mountain range where an Immortal Gu House is stationed, Heavenly Lotus Sect’s Canary Pavilion, a small pavilion filled with caged birds. Shi Ge judges it a good choice for the Northern Plains attack, since it specializes in capturing flying beasts and can move quickly. Mu Ling Lan adds that Heavenly Lotus Sect, founded by Genesis Lotus Immortal Venerable, owns the most Immortal Gu Houses of any sect. Zheng Yi asks whether a fourth exists beyond Canary Pavilion, Yue Yang Palace and Heavenly Pool, and Mu Ling Lan reveals that Heavenly Lotus Sect recently created one in secret. Zheng Yi reasons that Mu Ling Lan, from the information path Spirit Butterfly Valley, would know such secrets, and finds it shocking that the sect now has four Immortal Gu Houses. ^{ch. 1233}
