The nine heavens of the immemorial era, named when Lang Ya's land spirit says most starlight fireflies lived in orange heaven while those heavens still stood; the fireflies were already rare then and extinct by the olden era.
At Lang Ya Blessed Land, the land spirit pairs starlight fireflies with stargate Gu so that Gu can be used regardless of time or location, and says stargate Gu draws on the power of black heaven to cross the five regions’ boundary barriers. When the immemorial nine heavens were still around, most of the starlight fireflies lived in orange heaven. They were already extremely rare during the immemorial era and were extinct during the olden era. ch. 462

Appearance
The immemorial nine heavens are white heaven, red heaven, orange heaven, yellow heaven, green heaven, azure heaven, blue heaven, purple heaven, and black heaven. ch. 466
Nine colors and remaining heavens
The immemorial nine heavens are the most famous grotto-heaven record: white heaven, red heaven, orange heaven, yellow heaven, green heaven, azure heaven, blue heaven, purple heaven, and black heaven. When Ren Zu’s son caused havoc in heaven and earth, red, orange, yellow, green, azure, blue, and purple heavens were destroyed consecutively, leaving white and black heavens, which alternate between day and night. Treasure yellow heaven is closely related to the yellow heaven among those nine. ch. 466
Rush thunder stone
Rush thunder stone forms when thunder in the nine heavens explodes together. After the seven fall, white heaven and black heaven thunder and clash far less often, so rush thunder stone production drops drastically after the immemorial era. ch. 559
Nine heavens fragment worlds
The immemorial nine heavens were nine different worlds. Gu Immortal immortal apertures are also worlds and can swallow one another; the most famous example is treasure yellow heaven, formed when Daoist Countless Treasures fused a yellow heaven fragment world into his grotto-heaven. Seven Star Child absorbed a blue heaven fragment so Starry Sky grotto-heaven could endure. Only a rank eight grotto-heaven can absorb a nine heavens fragment world. Such fragments are precious because the immemorial nine heavens belong to the large world: after a grotto-heaven devouring a fragment, calamities and tribulations weaken or can vanish, and the grotto-heaven need not die with its Gu Immortal, yet the aperture takes on greater-world aura and can never be placed back into the body. ch. 740

Feng Jiu Ge speaks of places outside the five regions and nine heavens, and of dao marks foreign to that same pair of counts. ch. 924
Grotto-heavens in the two remaining skies
Gu Immortals at rank eight and rank nine had basically only white heaven and black heaven as places to set their grotto-heavens. When a rank eight dies, the immortal aperture is often left in one of those two skies, so a stock of such grotto-heavens persists there across history. An ordinary grotto-heaven placed in white or black heaven is an immortal aperture rather than a further sky. ch. 1682
