Fang Yuan refines it
Sixth Hair carries the refinement to its final step, then Fang Yuan takes over the refinement path immortal formation and drives the killer move Heavenly Light Ring through seven rotations until the ring shrinks to a speck and a rank seven heavenly secret Gu lands on his head. It is his second attempt after the first refinement failed, and the success surprises him; he guesses it may be down to his luck path methods and very good luck. ch. 1475
Appearance
It resembles a dragonfly, but on closer inspection it is more like a twig. The whole Immortal Gu is very long, about half an adult arm. Its body is thin and long like a twig, and very soft. On each side it has seven feathered wings that are thin and green, resembling leaves. ch. 1475
Effect
Old Man Yan Shi used it to deduce that Fang Yuan would one day return to southern border after learning that killer ghost doctor was under slavery Gu. The Gu can lead its user to the truth when ordinary evidence and clues are missing. ch. 492
Cost of failure
Success is rare: out of ten tries, at least eight fail. Failure brings Immortal Gu backlash that leaves soul and body intact but burns lifespan, from ten to seventy years per backlash. He already spent a hundred and fifty years of lifespan using it to track Fixed Immortal Travel and Fang Yuan’s later return to southern border for the Yi Tian mountain battle, then declined another use over a lesser wolf buying scheme. ch. 492

Fang Yuan recalls heavenly secret Gu as a wisdom path Immortal Gu that lets a Gu Immortal grab a strand of heavenly secret and obtain an answer without colliding thoughts or ordinary deduction, and that can let Gu Masters question heaven and earth directly. Records he recalls name Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable as its creator and say Paradise Earth held a rank eight heavenly secret Immortal Gu that vanished after that death. ch. 657
