Hard Qi Gu is a rare Gu Ju Kai Bei shows Yan Tu while preparing for Shang clan city battle-stage pressure.
Ju Kai Bei puts the Gu away and sighs that it is hard qi Gu rather than strength qi Gu. Yan Tu answers that ancient qi path has already disappeared, that strength qi Gu is extinct, and that obtaining hard qi Gu is already great luck. Ju Kai Bei adds that if it had been strength qi Gu, his battle strength would surge by two or three times. ch. 315

The Gu is like a beetle, black as iron, and fist sized. ch. 315
Form
Yan Tu calls it precious and rare, says Ju Kai Bei’s defense falls when he uses his killer move, and says this Gu will make up for that weakness if raised carefully. ch. 315
Arena use
During the arena clash with Fang Yuan, when ivory armor breaks as Ju Kai Bei’s body enlarges, he has already activated hard qi Gu. It turns into a ball of formless air covering his whole body, so he looks undefended while his defense is tight and solid like a boulder, covering that greatest weakness. Ju Kai Bei slows ivory armor regeneration to entice Fang Yuan, judges the Gu formless, notes he got it only recently, and believes he has never used it before that fight. ch. 319
Path
Ju Kai Bei’s hard qi Gu groups with Bai Ning Bing’s vitality Gu and Fang Yuan’s atmosphere Gu as related to qi path, and qi path Gu worms can alternate between form and formless. Ancient qi path appeared earlier than strength path; when it flourished, eight out of ten Gu Masters walked it, then it declined and strength path replaced it. ch. 315
