Divine Soul Gu is a soul path Gu that can refine a Gu Master's soul. Fang Yuan lists it among substitutes for Luo Po Valley when strengthening the soul.
Fang Yuan notes that even without Luo Po Valley, other soul path Gu worms can replace it. Divine soul Gu, dragon soul Gu, ice soul Gu, dream soul Gu, moon soul Gu, general soul Gu, grudge soul Gu, poem soul Gu and others can refine his soul and let him keep strengthening it toward hundred man soul, thousand man soul, or even ten thousand man soul. He will not take such Gu from Immortal Crane Sect, because Gu used directly on the soul are too dangerous if tampered with, and he knows little of their recipes. ch. 422

In a market of soul path Gu, Fang Yuan looks only at Gu that refine the soul. There are no rank four of that kind, but a bunch of rank three, including divine soul Gu among many others. These Gu refine the soul and each has a unique use; for example, refining into ice soul later boosts ice type Gu, and cloud spirit or wind spirit work the same way for their types. ch. 442
