While shopping for Gu that can refine the soul, Fang Yuan finds no rank four stock for that purpose, only a bunch of rank three options. The list includes divine soul Gu, dragon soul Gu, ice soul Gu, and others, then qi spirit Gu, body spirit Gu, cloud spirit Gu, wind spirit Gu, tiger spirit Gu, and more. ^{ch. 442}

Effect

These Gu refine the soul, and each has its own use. The chapter’s examples for that set are ice soul, cloud spirit, and wind spirit: refining the soul that way later boosts matching Gu types. Dragon soul Gu is the example for boosting dragon-type Gu. Body spirit Gu is named in the same rank three set without a separate worked example. ^{ch. 442}
