Effect

Early refinement
On the ninth use, Fang Yuan’s hundred man soul gains wolf ears, longer hair, wolf eyes, a thinner body, and a sharper nose, and grows more condensed with a grey-white tint. He expects that finishing his remaining copies will refine the hundred man soul to its limit as a half-man half-wolf wolfman soul, stronger than an ordinary hundred man soul. ch. 443
Final merge into wolfman soul
He pours essence into the final Wolf Soul Gu; it bursts into a grey wolf soul and merges with the hundred man soul. That merge finishes the change into wolfman soul: grey, mostly his own form, with a longer nose bridge, sharper eyes, thinner body, wolf ears, waist-length hair, and a wolf tail. Wolf links grow closer, wolf kings treat him more as their kind, and he can take in about three times more wolf kings than before. ch. 454
Higher ranks
In treasure yellow heaven he buys more Gu recipes and many refinement materials while pursuing rank five Wolf Soul Gu, for a total of eighteen across that purchase. ch. 493 He later has no rank five Wolf Soul Gu and can only use rank four. Refining rank four needs an intact soul of a myriad wolf king; refining rank five needs the soul of a wolf emperor, with about fifty percent success even for a refinement master.
