At the end of a huge walkway lined with tall stone pillars and paved in white-silver brick stands a giant red door over thirty meters tall with no handle and a carved huge human face that protrudes from the door as if sound asleep. When addressed, the face opens its eyes and speaks with a voice like thunder while opening a huge mouth that blows strong wind. ^{ch. 273}

Shang Yan Fei appears on a huge white-silver paved walkway lined with tall stone pillars and stands beside those pillars like an ant beside a pair of chopsticks. He walks the empty walkway until he reaches its end, where a giant red door over thirty meters tall stands with no handle and a huge sleeping human face carved on it. Shang Yan Fei tells Living Treasure Door to stop pretending to sleep. ^{ch. 273}

The door calls itself the guardian of the treasure realm and refuses to help Shang Yan Fei steal from inside, even as an old friend. Shang Yan Fei reminds it he is Shang clan leader; the door answers that every generation of clan leaders becomes the same, and that eons of waiting leave it empty and lonely. ^{ch. 274}

Even as a rank five Gu Master and Shang clan lord, Shang Yan Fei cannot force the door. The treasure realm was left by Shang clan ancestors and is the work of a Gu Immortal beyond rank five. Living Treasure Door demands a nose-digging favor before any exchange, then enforces the treasure realm’s rules: Man Triumphing Heaven Gu requires an offering of even greater value, so Shang Yan Fei gives up blood handprint Gu and receives Man Triumphing Heaven Gu in return, with a warning to refine it within three breaths once outside the treasure realm. ^{ch. 274}

Rules even the clan leader obeys

Later thought in Shang clan city states that living treasure door holds two Heavenly Essence Treasure Lotus and a heavenly essence treasure monarch lotus, and that Living Treasure Door guards those treasures so even Shang Yan Fei must comply with the ancestors’ rules to take them out. ^{ch. 315}
