In an Internal Affairs Hall interrogation room, winter sunlight falls through the only window onto the floor while fine dust floats in the light, and a long table sits ahead in darkness where three elders hear the case. ^{ch. 97}

Mission turn-in and clan evaluation

After a permafrost decayed soil gathering job, Fang Yuan’s small group walks out of the Internal Affairs Hall while Gu Yue Jiao San divides the primeval stone reward. ^{ch. 88} Gu Yue Jiao San then explains that clan missions come from the Internal Affairs Hall or the external affair hall, and that a Gu Master may hold only one accepted mission at a time. Fang Yuan’s own reading of the system is that the group leader’s write-up is only a small portion of clan evaluation, which is mostly attributed to the Internal Affairs Hall. ^{ch. 89}

When a beast-tide urgent mission goes out, Chi Cheng tells Fang Yuan that the Internal Affairs Hall and the external affairs hall have both already given the order to mobilize, that Fang Yuan’s group has already left, and that he must go as well. ^{ch. 93}

Family assets and interrogation rooms

Uncle and aunt talk treat the hall as the office that must approve an asset-split application and then send a group mission to test whether Fang Yuan may inherit. ^{ch. 90} After his group is wiped, Fang Yuan is questioned in an Internal Affairs Hall interrogation room, is told that hall missions are built for groups rather than loners, and still applies for the family inheritance mission before leaving the building. ^{ch. 97}

He later turns in golden honey wine there, confirms the mission record on the spot under clan rules, and after three days walks out with house deeds, land deeds, and sold-human contracts recovered through the hall’s inventory procedure. The same stretch states that Gu Yue Dong Tu’s influence is not big enough to affect the Internal Affairs Hall, and that even clan leader interference would face pressure from the clan elder circle. ^{ch. 102}

Hall elder under Gu Yue Bo

In a clan meeting on the River Swallowing Toad crisis, an Internal Affairs Hall elder reports that Fang Yuan is a loner after his group died, that monthly compulsory missions keep failing, and that light punishments are all the hall can give without a clan-rule breach. Gu Yue Bo then orders that elder to send a compulsory command assigning Fang Yuan to the toad, and the elder agrees. ^{ch. 119}
