A Dao field is a lasting world a venerable leaves in Crazed Demon Cave's eighth layer, distinct from ordinary blessed lands and grotto-heavens.
In Crazed Demon Cave’s eighth layer, cloud people ask Fang Yuan whether he has come to create a Dao field to save their crumbling world. They name earlier sages: one in a green robe and white headband created Green Lotus Dao field; a bare-footed sage in yellow clothes saved Yellow Earth Great World; a ferocious sage created Savage Wilderness Great World. ch. 1866 Fang Yuan matches those figures to Genesis Lotus Immortal Venerable, Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable, and Reckless Savage Demon Venerable. ch. 1867

Dao field traits and rivalry
Fang Yuan searches the void for venerable Dao fields without quick success. A giant grey fish born in Yellow Earth Dao field cannot point him there: although venerable Dao fields exist forever, they are always moving. From the fish’s memories, Yellow Earth Dao field is vast, dense with earth path dao marks and other marks, rich in immortal materials and Gu worms including Immortal Gu, and full of living beings though without humans. Paradise Earth Immortal Venerable arranged it and taught everyone without discrimination. Elite Gu Immortals of the field leave to train, cannot find their way back alone in the void, and return when the Dao field responds after they break through a barrier. Dao fields do not coexist peacefully; the living beings they nurture fight and invade other Dao fields, an arrangement Fang Yuan attributes to the venerables who created them. ch. 1869
