Gu Yue Yao Hong is a female Gu Master in Gu Yue Qing Shu's group of the Gu Yue clan on Qing Mao Mountain, and the text later names her that group's healing Gu Master.
She first appears outside the Gu Yue academy at the year-end examination, named as the female Gu Master Gu Yue Yao Hong beside Gu Yue Qing Shu. The same scene describes her as young, with blood red lips, a blade of grass in her mouth, and her hands in her pants pockets. ch. 82 That clan stage sits on Qing Mao Mountain in the Southern Border. ch. 4

Qing Shu’s group
Qing Shu’s team is the publicly acclaimed number one among the recruiting groups, and the clan leader has already arranged Gu Yue Fang Zheng as their new member. Yao Hong calls that plan babysitting and is unhappy about it. She mistakes the twins at first, then learns Fang Zheng has a C grade twin brother, and she asks whether they are also taking Fang Yuan. Qing Shu says the clan leader forbade recruiting Fang Yuan; Yao Hong still treats their group as a bright future any student would want. ch. 82
During the examination she watches the fights with Qing Shu. She praises Fang Zheng’s close-range courage and rank two academy result, ch. 83 then shouts that Fang Yuan is even more daring as Fang Yuan closes on the retreating Fang Zheng, ch. 84 and later says the brothers are not on good terms, then whistles that the defense looks moonblade-proof and that Fang Zheng seems to win. ch. 85
Healing Gu Master
During the wolf tide she travels in Qing Shu’s field group with Fang Zheng. The narration names her the healing Gu Master Gu Yue Yao Hong when a recon contact appears ahead, and she urges the group to save what she reads as allies scattered by wolf packs. Fang Zheng calls her Sister Yao Hong when that guess seems right. When Fang Yuan rounds the path chasing Bai Ning Bing, she is among the shocked group that sees him. ch. 138
Death
After Bai Ning Bing leaves the ice crystal, a Gu Yue clan elder, Qing Shu, Yao Hong, and the rest of the five surround him while Fang Zheng watches from a slope. When Bai Ning Bing forms an ice blade storm, the rank two Gu Masters nearby cannot dodge in time. Two male Gu Masters die at once; Yao Hong screams for help as the storm reaches her. Qing Shu coils Green Vine Gu around her waist, but the ice blades cut her apart before he can drag her clear, and he and Fang Zheng both cry her name over the corpse fragments. ch. 140
