Chai You Yan

He looks young, with a normal, unremarkable appearance, though he is an important Gu Immortal in Chai clan: the trusted and capable aide of Chai clan’s first supreme elder, and an information path Gu Immortal. ^{ch. 1348}

Chai You Yan says he has spent the last few days pondering Wu Yi Hai’s personality and how sincere he really is, noting that Chai clan knows little of him because he did not grow up in Southern Border. He points out one detail he says everyone else ignored: Wu Yi Hai’s letter names both Ba clan and Xia clan as targets rather than choosing to make peace with one of them. He reasons that if Chai clan and Wu clan struck only one of the two, the unstruck clan would not stay still but would join the clan under attack and resist Wu clan and Chai clan together, and he denies that naming both is Wu clan’s usual domineering style, since Wu Yi Hai lacks Wu clan’s dominating disposition. He points to how Wu Yi Hai handled Frosty Peak and his agreement with Mountain Moving Old Monster as proof that he acts with a lone cultivator’s astuteness, and calls him talented in the way of the righteous path. From this he concludes Wu Yi Hai has a lot of talent in politics and real sincerity in the cooperation, adds that Chai clan must still be careful of Wu clan if they work together, and urges Chai clan to send Gu Immortals to attack at the very least, leaving how they fight and how far the battle is restricted to the first supreme elder’s decision. Chai clan’s Gu Immortals nod along with his conclusion, and Chai clan goes on to send Gu Immortals to the river in a threatening stance against Ba clan and Xia clan. ^{ch. 1348}
