Chapter 512

Dong Fang Yu Liang’s three hearts combination soul killer move is only bait, calculated to draw Hei Lou Lan into the cloud whirlpool that then traps him and thins the guard around Fang Yuan. Shadow Sword Expert Bian Si Xuan and Flying Lightning Dong Po Kong strike at the main tent to finish him. Dong Po Kong’s lightning kills two of the six rank three Gu Masters blocking him and cripples a third. Bian Si Xuan slips past the rest, who find their hands and feet bound by dark shadow. Fang Yuan retreats in apparent panic and calls for protection. ^{ch. 512}

Hei Xiu Yi steps in front of him and raises a defense of fifty-six flying bone shields, a green halo, black armor and nine weeping ghost faces, wrapped in a dark brown oil wind. For dozen of moves the combined attack cannot break through, even as the rampaging twin-headed rhino adds to the chaos around them. But Hei Xiu Yi’s primeval essence is running toward its bottom while the two attackers together spend only half as much. He privately decides that Chang Shan Yin is an arrogant outsider not worth dying for. So he eases his defense to conserve himself while still appearing to fight. ^{ch. 512}

Bian Si Xuan senses the opening and activates the Overlapping Shadow Gu that Dong Fang Yu Liang lent her, a rank four Gu rare enough to rival many rank five Gu in value. It collapses her scattering shadow swords into a single blade, which punches through Hei Xiu Yi’s guard and into Chang Shan Yin’s chest. Hei Xiu Yi abandons his post and leaps from the rhino to flee. Dong Po Kong weighs chasing him, decides finishing the Wolf King matters more, and lets him go. ^{ch. 512}

Bian Si Xuan names herself to the dying Wolf King as his killer, and Dong Po Kong crows that it is over. Watching by detective Gu, Dong Fang Yu Liang tells Hei Lou Lan that Chang Shan Yin has been beheaded, and offers him a general’s rank and passage into the Imperial Court if he yields. Hei Lou Lan only smiles and tells him to look again. The pierced body has dissolved into a puddle around a nearly bisected Water Image Gu, the same device Water Demon Hao Ji Liu once used to pass off a decoy as himself and kill Fire Prodigal Chai Ming. ^{ch. 512}

Fang Yuan’s real body is never in the tent. He has been hiding elsewhere the whole battle, watching and directing the wolf group through Wolf Care Gu, with the tent’s dialogue itself staged by a set of Gu worms. He made the plan with Hei Lou Lan alone, and it is known to only three people in total. Bian Si Xuan and Dong Po Kong realize they have been tricked. ^{ch. 512}
