Fighting For Fang Yuan's Suppor
Duke Long’s huge offer strikes nobody as strange, since Fang Yuan’s stance could sway Eastern Sea and even Central Continent. Song Qi Yuan, increasingly anxious, calls Duke Long truly shameless for recruiting a man he fought to the death. Duke Long replies that the two fear for their clans and sea territories, while Qi Sea Ancestor is alone. Shen Cong Sheng shouts that Qi Sea Ancestor would definitely be isolated and pushed aside. Duke Long mocks the Shen clan, says the sect system is extremely accepting of outsiders and notes that the five regions are merging into one. Both fall silent. ch. 1838
Shen Cong Sheng tries again, and Duke Long warns that ambition must fit strength and that he could give the Shen clan what it deserves. Shen Cong Sheng, furious and shocked, keeps quiet, afraid of making his clan cannon fodder in a coming war. Song Qi Yuan accuses Duke Long of threatening three Eastern Sea rank eights, and Fang Yuan snorts that Heavenly Court will use this tone when attacking him later. The two straighten their backs, not knowing Fang Yuan lends them a little support because Duke Long’s aura has cowed them. Fang Yuan decides to sow discord and sway the Eastern Sea Gu Immortal world. ch. 1838
Duke Long sees Qi Sea Ancestor’s expression darken and blames Fang Yuan’s ill intentions. He says cooperation benefits both sides and enmity harms both. The Eastern Sea rank eights, emboldened, thank Qi Sea Ancestor and speak ill of Heavenly Court. Fang Yuan lets the accusations heat up until Duke Long grows impatient, then stops. Speaking as Qi Sea Ancestor, he says Fang Yuan promised him many things, even venerable true inheritances, and that he has descendants in his immortal aperture to prepare for. Duke Long concludes that Fang Yuan has tried to recruit Qi Sea Ancestor too, and scorns Fang Yuan as a lucky pawn of the venerables. ch. 1838
Duke Long says Qi Sea Ancestor could keep his immortal aperture if he joined, then drops the subject, promising him a warm welcome should he ever wish to join. For now he offers compensation, a batch of rank eight qi path resources extinct in the outside world and exceptional qi path inheritances. Fang Yuan’s eyes shine, for the resources are indeed extinct. Seeing him moved, the two Eastern Sea rank eights warn that Duke Long came secretly to obtain Immortal Gu House Dragon Palace, which they learned by soul searching the captured Gu Yue Fang Zheng. Duke Long only wants to stabilize Qi Sea Ancestor and retrieve the house first, Song Qi Yuan adds. ch. 1838
Fang Yuan is very happy inside, because rank eight Dragon Palace moves both of them and makes them even more anxious than him to stop Duke Long. Outwardly stern, he says he knows something of Dragon Palace and holds a venerable true inheritance from Fang Yuan under an agreement. He tells Duke Long to stop here, promises not to pursue the previous life’s future and offers a truce. Otherwise, even if he cannot win, he will visit Central Continent first. Duke Long takes the threat seriously, since Fang Yuan focused every attack on Pine Crane Pavilion and left him passive. ch. 1838
Duke Long becomes very wary of Qi Sea Ancestor, a lone cultivator with no territory against whom Heavenly Court has no effective method. He judges such a man must be eliminated as a threat to repairing fate Gu, so he believes the lie that Heavenly Court will one day attack Qi Sea Ancestor. But Fang Yuan’s interference has alerted Qi Sea Ancestor, and Duke Long will not give up Dragon Palace. He gets a headache, then calls the earlier offers mere compensation. For Dragon Palace, Heavenly Court can give more than Fang Yuan’s resources, he says, and he asks only that Qi Sea Ancestor watch from the sidelines. Fang Yuan looks slightly stunned, and Duke Long insists he means it. Waving the two immortals silent, Fang Yuan smiles with slight mockery and says Fang Yuan gave him a venerable true inheritance. ch. 1838
