Nan Qiu Garden

Appearance

A lotus pond sits in the guest garden where visitors play chess beside the water. ^{ch. 263} The lake pavilion stands in the middle of the garden lake. Light wind raises small waves on a lake that is not large, with stacked rockery stones along the edges. Large lotus leaves chain across the surface, pink-white buds still closed, and gold and orange carps surface at times. The pavilion uses brick, a colorful roof, and red pillars, with a chessboard inside. ^{ch. 310}

Guest lodging in third inner city

In Shang Clan City, Shang Ya Zi’s men report that Fang Yuan and Bai Ning Bing have stayed inside Nan Qiu garden for three days, and Shang Ya Zi himself comes to confront them there. The text calls it a residential area for esteemed guests: third inner city has no inns, only small gardens, and Nan Qiu garden costs thirty primeval stones a day, still cheap among those estates. Some large gardens cost a hundred primeval stones a day, and special grade gardens need a Shang clan token rather than stones alone. Fang and Bai play chess beside a lotus pond during that visit. ^{ch. 263}

After a banquet, Wei Yang drops the pair back at Nan Qiu garden. ^{ch. 264} Shang Xin Ci later asks whether Fang Yuan is still staying there, and he confirms the lodging and invites her to visit. ^{ch. 272} Fang Yuan’s own expense count names Nan Qiu garden’s rental among the costs that drain his primeval stones. ^{ch. 278}

Scenes inside the stay name several parts of the estate. Fang Yuan works invitations in a study room without leaving the garden, ^{ch. 286} and a later scene again opens on Nan Qiu garden’s study room when he reads that three kings inheritance has opened. ^{ch. 323} He meets traders in a reception hall on the same stay. ^{ch. 286} Tie Ruo Nan is brought to Nan Qiu garden after reports that Fang and Bai stayed there, and a doorboy says the two masters are cultivating in secret rooms. ^{ch. 302} Later nights again place Fang Yuan in a secret room of Nan Qiu garden. ^{ch. 304 ch. 312 ch. 331}
