Formation Spirit Immortal Gu is Zhen Yuan Zi's unique Immortal Gu that is consumed once to birth a formation spirit that can help manipulate a Gu formation.
Speaking from a metallic crane neck lamp in Zhen Yuan Zi’s true inheritance, it tells Han Li it is formation spirit Immortal Gu, created by Zhen Yuan Zi and unknown to others. It explains that blessed lands have land spirits, grotto-heavens have heavenly spirits, and Gu formations can have formation spirits. When the mortal Han Li obtains the true inheritance, the spirit warns that without immortal essence he cannot suppress the green claw ghost winged lion under the formation, so the Gu formation will break apart. ch. 1411

Consumable spirit birth
Formation spirit Immortal Gu is a unique creation of Zhen Yuan Zi. He replicated land spirits and heavenly spirits to create a formation spirit that assists a Gu Immortal in manipulating a formation. It is a one-time consumable Gu worm: after one use the Immortal Gu vanishes and a formation spirit is born instead, so another use requires refining a new one.
