Jade rock

Jade Skin Gu, one of the best defensive rank one Gu, is not easy to feed: it consumes two pieces of jade rock every ten days. Jade rock’s market price is expensive, and the supply is often the problem; Fang Zheng’s Jade Skin Gu is fed through the clan leader’s backing, while Fang Yuan would have to buy his own and risk exposure doing it. A jade eye stone monkey turns to grey rock fragments when it dies and leaves only its two eyes, each a jade green pearl of at least fifty grams, so killing the monkeys in the underground stone forest resolves Jade Skin Gu’s food problem. ^{ch. 79}

After Fang Yuan refines White Jade Gu from White Boar Gu and Jade Skin Gu, it also feeds on jade rocks: Jade Skin Gu needs two liang of jade rocks every ten days, while White Jade Gu needs eight liang every twenty days. Fang Yuan picks up the jade rock eyeballs left behind by the stone monkeys he kills and pours them into a bag already holding hundreds, and with the rock forest to hand he does not lack jade rocks. ^{ch. 100}

Adding some jade rock during Moon Scar Gu’s refinement, or carrying that refinement out on a night of abundant moonlight and exposing it to the light, raises the chance of success. ^{ch. 156}
