Reached through a waterfall-worn crevice in a boulder against a vertical mountain wall. Inside is an enclosed cliff chamber about eighty square meters, filled with dim red light. The stone walls are damp and mossy, the air dry, and withering vines with withering flowers cover part of the wall. ch. 14
Entrance through the boulder
Fang Yuan follows a drunken Liquor worm out of the bamboo forest to a boulder against a vertical mountain wall, where a branch waterfall has worn a crevice. He forces through cold current and narrowing stone until red light opens into an enclosed space inside the cliff, about eighty square meters. The walls are damp and mossy, the air dry, and withered Wine Sack Flower Gu and Rice Pouch Grass Gu vines cover part of the stone. He takes the Liquor worm from a root clump and finds Flower Wine Monk’s skeleton bundled in the vines. ch. 14
Image wall and early spoils
Inside the cave a voice and moving picture rise on the wall: Flower Wine Monk’s fight with the fourth generation clan leader. ch. 15 Photo-audio Gu left that looping record; the cave’s red light and the open stone crevice supply light and sound so the Gu can keep feeding. Fang Yuan pulls the vines apart, breaks the remains, and finds fifteen primeval stones plus dead flower and grass Gu, with the Liquor worm and the wall record as the lasting gains. Leaving, he judges the place is inside the mountain wall, not a true underground pit as later clan talk claimed. ch. 16
Strength path behind the wall
The looping image wall suddenly shows a gravely injured, pale bald Gu Master sprawled with deep cuts that do not bleed, as if his blood has been drained. He names himself Flower Wine Monk, offers his entire inheritance, and demands the finder exterminate the Gu Yue clan. ch. 46 After that change, the videos vanish and a blood line tells the finder to destroy the image wall for a cavern entrance; the writing lasts only a few breaths before the wall turns ordinary again. ch. 47
Fang Yuan later sneaks back into the secret cave among the rock cracks. The image wall is blank like the surrounding stone. He shaves it with Moonlight Gu until a passage opens downward, then marks rock powder at the secret-cave and rock-crack entrances before leaving. On return he confirms the powder and re-enters; the tunnel runs about three hundred meters to a huge smooth rock that blocks the way, and he treats the path as Flower Wine Monk’s strength inheritance meant to raise an avenger against the Gu Yue clan. ch. 60 ch. 61
