Three star cave is a rank three plant Gu that grows into a hollow tree with three layers of rooms.
Jia Fu’s caravan brings one to Qing Mao Mountain. Among a stretch of tents it stands as an enormous tree, the most common type of Gu house that caravan uses. A rank three support Gu Master stays inside it, operating and watching the counters. If someone tries to snatch the displayed Gu, that operator can close the doors into a momentary prison, grow branches for a group attack, and leave the rest to the security Gu Masters in the tree. ch. 109
Appearance
Once primeval essence is poured in, it grows at once into a tree about eighteen meters tall. The roots and branches twist like dragons and snakes. The trunk is about ten meters across at the base, brown, and not a single solid mass: it holds three layers of space, with windows that let in sunlight and air. Branches and leaves are scarce on the trunk; only the treetop is verdant and lush. At the base are two wide doors. Inside, the three layers become store layout, with wooden counters that are part of the tree. The three star cave tree Gu can grow green leaves and branches, and it can also grow different designs according to the Gu Master’s will, including stools and benches. ch. 109
Effect
The three rooms in those three layers have defensive power far above ordinary tents, which is why the caravan keeps more precious Gu inside the treehouse rather than in canvas stalls. ch. 109

Seed form
A later recounting of that same Qing Mao Mountain caravan calls three star cave a wood path Gu worm used to make a Gu house: eighteen meters tall, thick roots like coiling snakes, a three-layer trunk with windows, and defense on another level from tents. When used, a support Gu Master plants the seeds and injects primeval essence for the tree to grow. When they want to keep it, the tree turns back into a seed. In Northern Plains, ordinary Gu houses are not large trees like this, because such a tall tree is an easy target for lightning in heavy rain. ch. 439
Single Gu house
Fang Yuan later lists three star cave among the most common Gu houses he has met after rebirth. Collected, it turns into a seed. Planted, it grows into an enormous hollow tree with three floors. Ordinary Gu houses are combinations of several Gu worms. Three star cave, lizard house, and large lizard house are simplified branches formed from just one Gu, so their might is greatly reduced, and they become commonly used Gu houses. ch. 568
Housing after revival
Lang Ya land spirit sends Fang Yuan housing Gu that include the wood path Gu worm three star cave. After it is used, it turns into a tree house with space in the trunk. ch. 1032 He spends a night inside that house Gu inspecting his immortal aperture, then leaves the three star cave Gu around dawn. ch. 1033
