Life Gu is a natural Gu found inside the Door of Life and Death.
Fang Yuan names it with death Gu among the unique natural Gu of that forbidden ground, whose interior is extremely wide and reflects the five regions of the main world. Chou Jiu says he explored the Door of Life and Death many times, captured some of the life Gu and death Gu inside, and eventually refined one life one death Gu. He placed that refined Gu inside the door so that whenever a person dies because of him, it absorbs the death energy and converts it into lifeforce for his healing methods. ch. 384
Appearance
Life Gu are like blue gems of different sizes and shapes. Forms include flowers, birds, fishes, insects, beasts, snowmen, hairy men, and other shapes. A deer shaped life Gu is named among them. Human shaped life Gu are human shaped blue gems. ch. 591
Chen Jiu capture
Chou Jiu later says he and his senior sister Chen Jiu cultivated together and entered deep into the Door of Life and Death, capturing life Gu and death Gu. ch. 385
Ren Zu legend
In that telling, Wisdom Gu directs Desolate Ancient Moon to a still blue sea that is the source of all living beings, with many life Gu in its depths. A human shaped life Gu brought to shore can bestow a new life, but staying over fifteen minutes assimilates the entrant into the sea. The siblings find life Gu packed there like blue gems of many sizes and shapes, including animal forms that can turn into living creatures on shore, but no human shaped life Gu. Desolate Ancient Moon states that people themselves were formed from life Gu, and she chooses assimilation so she can return as a human shaped life Gu. ch. 591
