When Fang Yuan regains control of young Thieving Heaven against desert wolves, the aperture holds only a sandpit Gu, a chimney smoke Gu, and a clear water Gu, with a little over ten percent green copper primeval essence left. In that desert fight he judges clear water Gu of no use and relies on sandpit Gu and chimney smoke Gu instead. ch. 1494
Clan competition duel
Sha Xiao’s transferred information includes the mortal killer move Blurred Grey Eyes, formed from sandpit Gu, chimney smoke Gu, and clear water Gu. It has eight steps. Successful activation puffs out white smoke that covers a target’s eyes in white ash and blinds them; washing with water makes the ash produce high heat that can burn the eyes and cause lasting blindness. Fang Yuan activates Blurred Grey Eyes in the clan competition and defeats his opponent with the ash and a kick. ch. 1496
Refinement material
During a failing Gu refinement, Fang Yuan throws clear water Gu into the fire after chimney smoke Gu. The baby phantom in the fire devours it. Clear water Gu turns into a lump of emerald green water the fire cannot evaporate, the fire dims to orange-yellow, and the water and fire circulate until Fang Yuan’s blood finishes the improvised sequence that yields sneak attack Gu. ch. 1500
