Natural inspiration is the chance, during immortal ascension, to question heaven and earth and receive answers about cultivation without ordinary deduction.
Natural inspiration is a precious experience when a Gu Master advances to Gu Immortal. In that process the Gu Master questions heaven and earth, and heaven and earth provide solutions directly, with no need for the Gu Master to think the problem through as with Wisdom Gu. Wisdom Gu yields insights from the cultivator’s own foundation and clues; natural inspiration is like being given the correct answers, which the asker must still be able to use. ch. 657
Questions that are too profound waste the chance: the answer may arrive, yet the Gu Master cannot comprehend it, and chasing every related basic would flood the mind. The best use is to ask according to one’s current foundation, then stabilize and progress step by step. ch. 657
Ascension and heaven’s will
When Gu Masters ascend, they draw in heaven and earth qi and mingle with heaven’s will. If they ask questions regarding cultivation, heaven’s will gives an answer. That exchange is also known as natural inspiration. ch. 1056 Ordinary three qi fusion that lets a Gu Master comprehend heaven and earth and gain natural inspiration is set beside true meaning infusion: the former is that ascension dialogue with heaven and earth; the latter is study under a Venerable’s understanding. ch. 686
Once and fragile
When Gu Masters undergo immortal ascension, they have a one-time opportunity to experience natural inspiration. ch. 2135 That prime chance lets them ask the world questions and gain immense benefits. ch. 2245 In the process, a Gu cultivator questions heaven’s will and obtains an answer. If the question is too difficult and surpasses the limits of heaven and earth, there is no answer. Asking for a method of eternal life is an example of a question heaven and earth cannot answer. ch. 2263
When heaven’s will fails
With the fusion of the two heavens, heaven’s will falls into chaos and turbulence and does not have the ability to grant natural inspiration. An immortal ascension in that stretch can succeed without any natural inspiration opportunity. ch. 2245 The opportunity comes only once in a lifetime and remains important enough that cultivators are told to slow down rather than ascend into that turbulence. ch. 2263
