Hunting a yellowish ancient desolate ginseng in Huang Jin bloodline territory, he pins roots with greenish grey wooden spikes and unleashes Decaying Wooden Death, only to learn the trunk he struck was a branch of a plant near rank eight. Grey shadows let roots pass through him or hold him fixed while immortal essence drains, and he fears dying to the plant until Fairy Black Moon’s dark capital strength tiger and Chen Cheng’s arrival kill it and save him. He cups his fists to Chen Cheng, then swears he will not forget the life debt and will do his best to repay her. Told to lead the way to Crescent Moon Mound because he is close to Yin Wu Que, he hesitates for his good friend Brother Yin, then complies rather than defy her. ch. 2167
