Fang Yuan flees into the Five Regional Mountain Range as his own gambit; his pursuer Qi Zai is the one who recognizes it, realizing too late that this was Fang Yuan’s plan all along. ^{ch. 1042} The range imitates the regional walls. After Fang Yuan enters and can move freely, he guesses that free travel there may also mean free passage through the regional walls. ^{ch. 1043}
