Escape
Knocked down by the star billow pillar, Immortal Monkey King gets back up and ignores Seven Star Child immortal zombie to run for the star demon bat corpse. Three flying sword rats swoop in, scratching his huge body, but his golden fur blocks their nails and draws no blood. The rats do not let go. They keep hacking as he runs, shedding bunches of monkey fur. ch. 727
Reaching the star demon bat corpse, he grabs it. It shatters, an illusion, and he has been deceived again. Still hoping, he pushes toward the flying bear corpse while Seven Star Child immortal zombie’s blows tear his skin despite his monkey form’s defense. Five live flying bears cry around the corpse, and when one nudges it with its head, the image flickers: fake as well. Shi Lei concludes Fang Yuan has stolen every desolate beast he killed, and demands to know how long it has been since anyone dared steal from him. ch. 727
The flying bears charge, but Shi Lei, seeing nothing left to gain, wants only to escape. Star Lord Wan Xiang’s death cost him the normal way out of Starry Sky grotto-heaven, but he still remembers the loophole, and forcing it wider could return him to Central Continent. Turning that way, he finds a huge ghost face tortoise on his right and more beasts closing from every other side, with Seven Star Child immortal zombie waiting above. He is surrounded completely. ch. 727
Wary only of the immortal zombie, Shi Lei charges the tortoise, the largest and slowest of the beasts, meaning to use its body as a shield. It releases countless dark blue soul beasts. Shi Lei fights through the swarm, his defense letting him slaughter them by the score while the three flying sword rats keep landing small wounds. The immortal zombie’s own beasts hinder each other, so Shi Lei slows deliberately under their cover, and even Seven Star Child immortal zombie holds back, letting him reach the grotto-heaven loophole. ch. 727
There he winces as blood pours from his back: the rats’ wounds have piled into one gash, filled with metal path dao marks. Furious, he punches them away, but they return, so he traps all three in Filthy Mud Robe, stuck as though in a swamp. He follows with Earth’s Root. Countless spikes shoot from the robe and pierce the rats, who die after holding on for over a dozen breaths. ch. 727
Seven Star Child immortal zombie finally reacts and orders a full charge, but Shi Lei calls it too late. He detaches the filthy mud robe to seal the loophole opening. Pouring in immortal essence, he triggers Earth Disintegration, opening a huge hole onto another sky, and forces his way through. The breakthrough is rough, not careful like Star Lord Wan Xiang’s own, and an invisible force squeezes him from every side. His monkey form’s defense, raised more than tenfold, carries him out, and he emerges bloodied, the rat wound on his back still open. ch. 727
Outside, five flying bears close in and six huge star shadows fill the sky: he has not left Seven Star Child immortal zombie’s seven star space at all. Seven Star Child immortal zombie has regained his senses and thinks normally again. He thanks Shi Lei for the awakening that freed him from the dream realm, then promises to bury Shi Lei’s corpse beneath his favorite mountain peak. He strikes with a mortal killer move that makes Shi Lei’s body heavier and slower, and bear paws slam him from every direction. Shi Lei rolls free at last, bruised and aching but with no bones broken. ch. 727
With the danger far worse, Shi Lei has no choice but to call his sect for help, humiliated that the grand Immortal Monkey King must use a seek help Gu. He blames Fang Yuan for the ruined trip and for trapping him here after stealing Star Lord Wan Xiang. Two star desolate hounds and the ghost face tortoise close in as he challenges Seven Star Child immortal zombie to fight three hundred more rounds. Seven Star Child immortal zombie laughs and agrees. A burst of golden light forces him to squint, and when it fades Shi Lei has already reverted to human form and is running into the forest at full speed. He has run away. ch. 727
The Immortal Monkey King, famous for bravery and ruthlessness, has chosen to flee, a thing that would shock Central Continent’s Gu Immortals if it became known. Seven Star Child immortal zombie shouts that Shi Lei tricked him, that he thought him a champion who would rather die than yield, and dares him to try to escape. Shi Lei says nothing and runs faster. ch. 727
