Fang Yuan blocks the academy gates and tells the departing students that each of them owes him a primeval stone. The first group jeers that a petty C grade has no business blocking his betters. Before they can rush him, he chops one teenager’s neck and drops him where he stands. He wades into the rest, palm cuts to the neck and a kick to the groin, and in a few breaths the whole knot of them is on the ground. Gu Yue Mo Bei arrives to find five or six students down and rages that a mere C grade dared to beat a B grade, then charges; Fang Yuan sidesteps his fist and jabs two fingers into his clavicle, dropping him cold. None of them are seriously hurt. ch. 27
Fang Yuan asks the rest whether they will hand over their stones or not, and they swarm him together, only to be lying on the ground again after a few breaths. A few girls hang back, and when Fang Yuan turns his gaze on them they beg him not to come closer and offer to surrender their stones. He takes a few pieces of primeval stone from them and lets them go. More students arrive at the gate to find Gu Yue Chi Cheng staring open mouthed at the unconscious Mo Bei. ch. 27
The guards go to the academy elder, who watches from the pavilion instead of stopping the fight. A guard worries that someone could lose their life, and another calls it a blatant disregard for law and discipline that Fang Yuan dares to extort classmates under the guards’ own eyes. The elder judges Fang Yuan a natural battle Gu Master, and calls it a pity that his talent is only C grade, one step short of a higher grade. ch. 27
