Ghost Official Garment

Fang Yuan’s first successful activation and how the move is maintained.

His modified version uses rank seven Change Soul Immortal Gu and rank six cleanse soul Immortal Gu as cores. After several failures he activates it and moves his soul out of the sovereign immortal body; the soul wears a broad garment as the move’s manifestation. The general term is ghost official garment; subdivided, rank six is ghost soldier garment, rank seven ghost general garment, rank eight ghost king garment, and rank nine ghost venerable garment. At rank nine it could in theory defend against a venerable’s deductions, but even Spectral Soul Demon Venerable had not raised it to rank nine; his highest was rank eight. ^{ch. 1448}

Fang Yuan’s activation shows only rank six ghost soldier garment. Beneath it sits the rank nine theft path killer move Ghostly Concealment as a clothing of dao marks, so the outer soul path garment is demoted from rank seven to rank six. Sovereign immortal body’s non-conflicting dao marks do not remove conflict between killer moves of different paths; fusing both into one move would need theft path and soul path attainment he lacks. ^{ch. 1448}

Once activated, ghost official garment does not spend immortal essence. It expends soul foundation instead, can last as long as the soul exists and the garment is not directly attacked, and its might rises or falls with that soul foundation. Fang Yuan treats it as the most suitable among the inheritances he holds, with the highest growth potential, and a key part of Spectral Soul’s true inheritance, but he does not take the companion soul path moves soul shaking flag or soul shackle with it. ^{ch. 1448}
