Hidden resource conflict
Two rank five Gu Masters sneak into the valley at night seeking a zhi forest and earth horses beneath it, and they name Hong Xuan Ji as strong but weak in investigative methods. For Universal Life Academy that underground zhi forest is a huge benefit and an important stockpile, yet the sect is still kept in the dark until the clash draws its Gu Masters in. Hong Xuan Ji then halts the sect competition and recalls disciples and elders to defend the forest as a foundation to rise up. ch. 680
Refinement Path Convention
Every Central Continent sect has a Refinement Path Convention quota; Universal Life Academy is still called a small sect and holds three reserved places, one each for a disciple, an elder, and an external elder. ch. 823 A placing near the end of the list a hundred years earlier also grants three automatic Convention spots for people such as Hong Yi. ch. 829
