Fang Yuan stops at a torn, worn-out bamboo building he rented in his previous life. Rent is lower than elsewhere and is counted by the day rather than by the month, and he takes a second-floor room with one bed, a patched blanket, and an oil lamp. ch. 90 Gu Yue Jiao San’s group later finds him there from the owner’s description of that second-floor rental, then breaks the door while he is in closed-door cultivation. ch. 91
