Grey Memory is a myriad tribulation that draws out a Gu Immortal's deepest painful or shameful memories and does no direct harm to the body.
During Spectral Soul Demon Venerable’s tribulation sequence at Yi Tian Mountain, Heavenly Court Gu Immortals recognize the second myriad tribulation as grey memory. One of them recalls a rank eight senior who failed that tribulation and left an inheritance in his final moments. The tribulation is harmless to the body, but it draws out the person’s deepest memories: ones that caused huge pain, or trauma in their life. That senior did not last fifteen minutes, lost all motivation and fighting spirit, and lost interest in life. ch. 1013
How it works
No attack resolves it. The person must enter it and face past shame, trauma, humiliation, and anger. ch. 1013 Compared with Wind Lightning Prison, which arrives extremely fast, grey memory descends slowly enough that anyone undergoing it can retaliate in many ways.
