Beast Group

When a wolf group grows stronger and larger, neighbouring beast groups lose living space. Migrations influence other beast groups in turn, and the tangled pressure can widen until mixed beast tides form. ^{ch. 93} Clansmen on Qing Mao Mountain speak of many wild beast groups ahead that need support during such a small beast tide. ^{ch. 94}

Old or injured lightning wolves expelled from a pack may rush surrounding beast groups; under mutual influence those rushes help form a small beast horde. ^{ch. 96} As long as a beast group is large enough, a Beast King forms within it. A wild boar group has a wild boar king; a monkey group has a monkey king. The bigger the group, the stronger the king that can rule it. ^{ch. 114}
