During Li Xiao Bai’s immortal ascension, a young-looking man with eerie eyes watches from afar, names himself Du Zhi Xiao, and says that if Li Xiao Bai becomes immortal he will never make it big. He shoots grey smoke into the tribulation cloud, which then sends three pale green lightning balls at Li Xiao Bai. ch. 2119

He first appears as a young-looking man with eerie eyes. ch. 2119 When he spends himself through grey smoke during the fight, his appearance turns from a young man to a middle aged man, then to an old man. ch. 2120
Death at the tribulation
Imperial Minister Su blocks the lightning for Li Xiao Bai while Du Zhi Xiao cheers when masked helpers pin Su down. Su later names him Du Zhi Xiao, the former number one scholar in the world, for causing trouble with grey smoke. Du Zhi Xiao keeps feeding the tribulation until Li Xiao Bai’s poems and defenses break his plans; he takes his last breath after crying that heaven created Li Xiao Bai after him. ch. 2120
