Water Shell Gu

On an unnamed island fishing village, Fang Yuan disguises himself as the traveling Gu Master Chu Ying and gathers the village Gu Masters. He opens his hand and shows a rank two mortal Gu, white and blue, resembling a seashell and large as a jade bracelet. He names it water shell Gu: it can form a layer of water as a shell on the Gu Master’s body to resist the sea’s water pressure, and with this Gu worm alone a Gu Master can go six li deep into the sea. ^{ch. 1654}

After they try it, the Gu Masters find it uses very little primeval essence. Fang Yuan hands out almost ten copies, keeps one for the absent middle aged Gu Master, then gives them the recipe. The core material is the spiral seashell on the island beach, and the other materials can also be found on the island. Fang Yuan says he created this Gu recipe after inspecting the island, and that he has just created this water shell Gu. ^{ch. 1654}
