Red steel primeval essence is the rank two tier of a Gu Master's aperture sea. Early academy teaching names the same tier red iron.

Rank and naming
The academy elder teaches that rank one Gu Masters hold green copper primeval essence, rank two hold red iron primeval essence, and rank three hold white silver, and that one portion of red iron equals ten of green copper. ch. 22 ch. 26 Later chapters name rank two essence red steel primeval essence when Gu Masters activate it in fight and cultivation. ch. 76 ch. 92
When Fang Yuan breaks through to rank two, traces of red primeval essence appear in the sea: rank two initial stage red steel primeval essence. ch. 92
Small realms
Primeval essence at rank two is collectively called red steel primeval essence, but it has four small realms: initial stage, middle stage, upper stage, and peak stage, with slight differences in the essence itself. Initial stage is light red; middle stage is scarlet; upper stage is crimson; peak stage is dark red. Fang Yuan’s aperture at rank two peak stage holds a dark red red steel sea at forty-four percent. ch. 145
Limits and refinement
A rank one Liquor worm can refine rank one green copper essence, but it has no use toward red steel primeval essence once the owner is rank two. ch. 105 Four flavors liquor worm at rank two can purify red steel primeval essence by a small realm, the same step rank one liquor worm performs on green copper and rank three seven fragrances liquor worm performs on white silver. ch. 326 Fang Yuan uses Four Flavors Liquor worm refinement plus primeval stones to turn crimson upper-stage essence fully into dark red peak-stage essence. ch. 145
